Umrah Checklist

A simple checklist covering documents, clothing and everyday essentials.

Documents

Passport with sufficient validity, visa confirmation, travel insurance details, hotel confirmations, flight details and a written list of emergency contact numbers in case your phone is lost.

Ihram and clothing

For men: two sets of ihram cloths (a spare is invaluable), an ihram belt and a small money pouch. For women: loose, plain and modest clothing that is comfortable in heat, plus a light shawl.

Comfortable slip-on sandals are essential — you will remove your shoes many times a day — along with a drawstring shoe bag to carry them into the mosque.

Everyday essentials

Unscented soap, shampoo and deodorant for the days in ihram, prescribed medication with a copy of the prescription, a refillable bottle, a power bank, a UK-to-Saudi plug adaptor, a small prayer mat and a folding umbrella for shade.

Nice to have

A pocket du'a book, a lightweight tote for Zamzam and gifts, wet wipes, blister plasters and a lanyard card with your hotel name and address in Arabic.
