Makkah Guide for Umrah Travellers

Orientation around the Haram, hotel districts and getting about.

Around the Haram

Most of our hotel selections sit within approximately ten minutes' walking distance of the Haram, which makes reaching prayers straightforward throughout your stay — particularly for Fajr and during busier periods.

The closer a hotel sits to the mosque, the higher the price tends to be. A short walk often buys a noticeably better room for the same budget, which is why we talk through the trade-off with you rather than simply quoting the nearest option.

Finding your way

Masjid al-Haram has many gates, and choosing one gate as your family's reference point makes life much easier. Note the gate number and the nearest landmark when you enter; the official Nusuk Maps tool is helpful for locating gates and facilities.

Good to know

Peak times around the Haram can be extremely busy, especially Fridays, Ramadan and the hours around Maghrib. Arriving early for prayer and agreeing a meeting point with your group makes the experience far calmer.

The Safa and Marwah gallery is enclosed and air-conditioned, and there are dedicated routes for wheelchairs and buggies if anyone in your group needs them.
